BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (ABP) – Fred Shuttlesworth, the last of the “Big Three” of the civil rights movement with Ralph Abernathy and Martin Luther King, died Oct. 5. He was 89.
(ABP) -- Eugene Nida, a pioneer in the theory of modern Bible translations in the 20th century, died Aug. 25 in a Brussels hospital. While not a household name, Nida, 96, influenced Bibles in millions of homes.
CLINTON, Miss. (ABP) – Richard “Dick” Brogan, a pioneer in building bridges between white and black Baptists in the South, died of a heart attack April 25 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Miss. He was 73.
