WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue, a case involving a state constitutional ban on government funding of religion.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court's conservative majority appeared ready Wednesday to reinvigorate a Montana scholarship program and make it easier to use public money to pay for religious schooling in many states.
The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that vouchers that send taxpayer funds to private schools, including religious schools, do not violate the religious liberty guarantees in the federal constitution. But even if they are allowed, that doesn’t make them a good idea.
