Marge Koehler dies

Former co-manager of Windermere Baptist Conference Center Marjorie L. "Marge" Koehler, 80, of Camdenton passed away on June 14.

Born in Onley, Ill., on Feb. 20, 1924, she was married to Arthur "Art" Koehler, who preceded her in death on May 17. The Koehlers began the camp ministry on Jan. 1, 1958. The couple served for 32 years at Windermere, where Mrs. Koehler also was food services manager. The couple retired from Windermere in January 1990. The center's board of advisors dedicated the Koehler Lodge in the couple's honor on Sept. 8, 2001.

William Jewell College honored the couple with the W.F. Yates Medallion for Distinguished Service in Religion in 1987. She also had been a board member for The Baptist Home. A former Woman's Missionary Union director, Mrs. Koehler served as secretary and treasurer of the Southern Baptist Camping Association for many years.

Mrs. Koehler is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, a daughter and son-in-law, a brother, two sisters, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
