November 27, Hebrews 1:1-4
By Earlene Rogers, First Baptist Church, Higginsville
I recognized His voice speaking to me for the first time when I was 8 years old. It was summer time at a tent revival in the churchyard. Christmases have been different ever since! Christmas down on the farm, where we lived until I was 10 years old, became much more than a baby's birthday.
God allowed the Great Depression to move us to town, to Higginsville and First Baptist Church. First Baptist is a mission-minded church where I was taught over and over that "Christ is better than angels" and needs to be shared with those who do not know Him.
I saw "the radiance of God's glory" in the study of two mission books, "So This is Africa" by Susan B. Anderson and "The Wandering Jew in Brazil, the life of Solomon Ginsburg." That book changed my life. It was the first mission book I ever taught.
Since then God has allowed me to teach missions across the association, state and country many times. He has also allowed me to go on short-term mission trips across the world a number of times.
So this Christmas, in the "evening" of my life, I shall continue to praise the One who is sitting at "the right hand of the majesty in heaven" with words, deeds and witness.
