WARRENSBURG, Mo. — John Yeats, executive director of the Missouri Baptist Convention, honored Missouri Woman’s Missionary Union for members help in promoting the state’s mission offering.
Speaking to the MWMU annual meeting at First Baptist Church in Warrensburg on April 13, Yeats said the MBC’s Rheuben L. South Missouri Missions Offering collected each fall exceeded its goal for the first time in 20 years.
Messengers to the 2011 MBC annual meeting set the 2012 goal at $750,000. Funds collected during the fall are distributed in the next fiscal year.
The MBC had promised it would “tithe the overage” to Missouri WMU if the mission organization more actively assisted with promotion during State Mission Week. He presented a check of more than $1,672 to WMU leaders.
Yeats said that 40 new church plants are “in the pipeline” in the state, and he thanked WMU members for what they do to promote missions and new work.
