McEntyre receives CBF award

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Cooperative Baptist Fellowship awarded Carol McEntyre, pastor of First Baptist Church in Columbia, Mo., the Young Baptist Leadership Award for her excellence in Christian education ministry and leadership. She was honored Feb. 24 at the 2014 Churchworks! Conference in Huntsville, Ala.

The award is presented annually to a young Baptist clergy or congregational leader who represents a growing interaction with and support of the CBF and has demonstrated ministry to peers and colleagues of every generation. CBF gives the honor to affirm the recipient and encourage the younger generation of Cooperative Baptists.

Carol McEntyre receives the Young Baptist Leadership Award from the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s  Coordinator of Missional Congregations Bo Prosser at the 2014 Churchworks! Conference in Huntsville, Ala.

McEntyre has served First Baptist since 2012. A native of Sparta, Tenn., she earned an undergraduate degree at Carson-Newman College and Master of Divinity and Master of Social Work degrees at Baylor University.

Before taking the Missouri pastorate, McEntyre served as education minister at Church of the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Augusta, Ga., and as community minister at First Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tenn.

While in Knoxville, she served on the board of a nonprofit that equipped the church to serve the needy. She also served on the faith-based task force for Knoxville’s 10-year plan to end homelessness.

McEntyre is a Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Fellow.
