“A summer of legacy” is the way Sports Crusaders Executive Director Tricia Albers described the organization’s 2014 outreach.

In its 20th season, Sports Crusaders teams ministered to 2,544 campers, with 342 students accepting Jesus as Savior.
Albers shared summer highlights in a recent report to the ministry’s board of trustees, including word of the addition of new staffer Daniel Swarthout. He led a team dedicated to inner-city ministry this summer. According to Albers, the team saw 151 professions of faith.
Swarthout has been raising financial support to begin work in mid-September as the inner-city ministry staffer. The goal is to expand inner-city work to include two teams that will minister in 16 locations next year.
Albers shared about Sports Crusaders camps in Merida Yucatan in Mexico in July. The ministry has worked with Ebenezer Baptist Church for eight years, providing sports clinics and competitive games.
The Sports Crusaders team got to visit Hunucma, where Ebenezer Baptist started a mission that currently has 26 active members.
“Their vision is to use sports, VBS (Vacation Bible School) and other events to help this church plant grow,” Albers said. The neighborhood around the mission has about 150 children.
“This is where the good stuff happens,” she added.
She said three individuals are praying about going to Hunucma next year to help the mission.
