TAMPA — Missourians and a Kansas seminary president figured prominently at the 20th Cooperative Baptist Fellowship General Assembly June 22-24 in Tampa, Fla.
Keith Herron, senior pastor of Holmeswood Baptist Church in Kansas City, was named CBF moderator-elect for the coming year. He will then serve as moderator of national CBF beginning in June 2012.
Cynthia Holmes, a member of Overland Baptist Church, St. Louis, was elected to serve on the CBF Coordinating Council (2011-14).
Laura Hoffman of Third Baptist Church, St. Louis, is one of 14 members of the 2012 CBF Task Force, which reported on its efforts to evaluate CBF's first 20 years and make recommendations for the Fellowship's future. Its focus includes a look at CBF's structure and funding.
Jeanie McGowan, associate pastor to single adults at First Baptist Church in Jefferson City, chaired the workshop committee that coordinated breakout sessions and workshops for the Tampa meeting.

James Smith, former president of the Missouri Baptist Foundation, attended his first General Assembly meeting as the new president of the CBF Foundation and hosted the Foundation's Fellowship Heritage Society Breakfast.
Molly Marshall, president of Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Shawnee, Kan., brought the keynote message, "God's Holy Nudge: Crafting a Future With the Spirit," at the 20th anniversary banquet that opened the general assembly meeting.
Mira and Sasha Zivanov, native Yugoslavians and American citizens engaged in church planting and ministry activities among refugees from the former Yugoslavia living in St. Louis were among 14 people commissioned during the general assembly as CBF Global Missions field personnel. All will raise their own support.
Kate Hanch, a recent graduate of Central Baptist Theological Seminary and ministry associate at Holmeswood Baptist Church in Kansas City, preached during a Festival of Young Preachers workshop.
Bart Tichenor of Columbia served as parliamentarian during CBF business sessions.
