The Missouri Baptist Children’s Home Board of Trustees elected Russell L. Martin to be the next Children’s Home president during its April 22 meeting at the Bridgeton, Mo., headquarters.

Mission efforts can bring believers together to make a difference in the world and for God’s kingdom.

Author and speaker Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove shared how medical personnel in a bomb-damaged clinic assisted Americans injured in an automobile accident in Iraq. The experience led him to open Rutba House, a ministry of hospitality, in Durham, N.C., he told attendees at the Churchnet Annual Gathering April 11-12. 

In a whirlwind tour through Missouri April 1-3, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship executive coordinator shared her vision for the CBF in the years ahead. CBF will focus on identity, mission and ministry to live out God’s call to the church and the individual members of the body.

Jean Roberson of national Woman's Missionary Union shared from the past to point members of Missouri WMU to service now and in the future. She spoke during the state organization's missions celebration and 90th annual meeting April 405 at Second Baptist Church in Springfield. Attendees celebrated with the theme "The Story Lives On: Celebrate, Connect, Commit." 

Is it “manifestly unjust to enforce” legal rules and procedures? That’s the question an appeals court justice posed in a March 25 ruling on litigation against Windermere Baptist Conference Center, an individual and several financial institutions.

And a question the Missouri Baptist Convention Executive Board may need to ask itself.

CBF HeartlandCOLUMBIA, Mo. — Attendees elected Michael Olmsted of Springfield, Mo., moderator of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Heartland for the coming year during a luncheon business session March 15 at First Baptist Church, Columbia, Mo.

Cooperative Baptist Fellowship awarded Carol McEntyre, pastor of First Baptist Church in Columbia, Mo., the Young Baptist Leadership Award for her excellence in Christian education ministry and leadership. She was honored Feb. 24 at the 2014 Churchworks! Conference in Huntsville, Ala.

Mediation between the Missouri Baptist Convention and four formerly affiliated agencies has ended without a resolution. The primary issue — who would control those organizations — could not be settled.

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Concentrating on similarities opens doors to lasting friendships and opportunities to build bridges, 14 University of Missouri students learned recently in Cuba. The students and three adults spent part of winter break in January assisting Cuban university students to practice English and developing relationships with students and members of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ciego de Avila.
