CBFMO council adopts new budget

Jefferson City — Members of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Missouri Coordinating Council adopted a budget for fiscal 2006-07 with an amendment.

On March 23, council members adopted a proposed ministry plan of almost $230,330, with a proviso that the final budget be adjusted to include a 4 percent cost-of-living increase for coordinator Harold Phillips and associate coordinator Jeff Langford.

The budget must be approved at CBF of Missouri's state general assembly meeting April 28-29.

The proposal includes about $32,623 for mission projects, almost $15,070 for strategic partnerships and about $11,826 for ministry teams. Personnel costs, other than for CBF of Missouri's office manager, are divided among the organization's ministry objectives, rather than listed as a separate line item in the budget summary.

Langford noted personnel costs were divided "to reflect some sort of human value to each of those things."

Meeting at First Baptist Church, Jefferson City, council members also approved a request from the Baptist General Convention of Missouri for representatives of the two organizations to discuss possible ways in which the groups could work together. A date has not been set for that session.

They also approved a motion to invite the BGCM to set up a booth at the CBF of Missouri general assembly.

In other action, council members approved changes to a proposed sabbatical leave policy. The changes would allow the organization an opportunity to provide some financial assistance to individuals if money is available when staffers apply for a sabbatical.

Council members approved a personnel manual at their last meeting.
