Lacking worship place due to a past fire, and a gym no one could use due to the pandemic, Calvary Temple Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri, converted the space to a food pantry. Starting with what Reverend Eric Williams says was “two cans of SPAM and macaroni with no cheese,” the church has fed thousands.
He’s learning as fast as he can about hunger in his community in addressing root causes. “It has been excruciating,” Williams admits. “But it’s also been rewarding.”
