Word&Way garners BCA, ACP awards

The Baptist Communicators Association named Word&Way the top state Baptist newspaper in the design division in its 2011 awards competition.

BCA is comprised of Baptist communications professionals representing state conventions, newspapers and various other institutions.

Word&Way also received two awards from Associated Church Press during its spring awards competition.

Associate Editor Vicki Brown received an award of merit (second place) in ACP's theme section in a newspaper for a series of articles titled "To Everything There Is a Season" in the June 10, 2010, issue. Brown's four articles dealt with changes in the lives of churches and their leaders in a series that appeared as a cover package produced in collaboration with the newspaper's New Voice Media partners.

ACP awarded Word&Way an honorable mention (third place) in its in its best in class competition among regional newspapers from various denominations across the United States.

"Word&Way is pleased that the hard work of our staff and our collaboration with partners Associated Baptist Press, the Texas Baptist Standard and the Virginia Religious Herald have resulted in winning awards entries," Editor Bill Webb said.

"It is especially gratifying that ACP recognized Associate Editor Vicki Brown for her outstanding writing," he said. "In addition, we are pleased that Word&Way's overall excellence was recognized by judges from both BCA and ACP."
