DIDCOT, England (ABP) – A new Baptist Times website launched April 23, three months after an award-winning newspaper with the same name ceased publication after 156 years.
Part of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, the new website will cover news from the union’s 2,000 churches and 140,000 members, as well as the broader Baptist community though contacts in the Baptist World Alliance and the European Baptist Federation.
“Our ultimate aim is to connect, encourage and resource the denomination, to help deepen faith and live out Christ’s mission,” new editor Paul Hobson said in a news release. Hobson was news editor for the printed Baptist Times, which closed at the end of last year due to lack of funds.
The website was scheduled to launch April 16, but was postponed when Hobson went on paternity leave after the birth of his daughter on April 15.
