On Aug. 13, Calcasieu Parish officials voted 10-4 to keep their Confederate monument (above) outside the courthouse in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Then on Aug. 27, Hurricane Laura hit and knocked the statue off the so-called “South’s Defenders Monument.”
