Today's story is not a bedtime tale for little children. No sweet dreams here! It would make an “R” rated movie.

The way we treat others should reflect how we are treated by God. Tolerance is a word that gets tossed around by both Christians and non-Christians, even though both sides may have different definitions for tolerance.

The book of Judges (c. 1200-1020 BC) has been referred to as Israel's “dark ages” because it is marked by idolatry, immorality, cruelty and war.  The judges are fascinating individuals who rose up out of chaotic times, led the people spiritually as well as on the battlefield and then faded when Israel was once again stabilized.

It is certainly true that worry is never healthy. It affects our appetites, relationships, sleep and our ability to work. How do we overcome what Jesus is talking about in our text?

A common human wish is that if only we could see Jesus with our own eyes, touch him, and audibly hear him speak our name, then faith would be so much easier. You might want to converse with the apostles about that.

We are physical beings, and we live in a physical world. It’s natural, then, that we fill our lives with physical objects. We seek to possess things, but those things have a way of possessing us.

One of the middle school Sunday School teachers in our church has developed a program of teaching her pupils to memorize select sections of Scripture to help them in their daily walk with God.

When politics and religion mingle, the result is rarely good!
