Retired Missouri pastor and director of missions Robert P. Quinn, 77, died March 27 at The Baptist Home in Chillicothe.
Funeral services were March 29 at First Baptist Church, Chillicothe, where he was a member. Burial and a graveside service followed at Carmack Cemetery near Albany.
Quinn was born the son of Aubrey L. and Myrtle Kathryn (Ireland) Quinn on Feb. 9, 1931, near Albany. He married Margaret Evelyn Murray on Aug. 5, 1953 in Albany.
He was a graduate of William Jewell College and attended Central Baptist Seminary and Midwestern Baptist Seminary. Ordained to the ministry in 1952, he was pastor of several small churches in northwest Missouri. Upon graduation from William Jewell, he became the first director of the Baptist Student Union at Northwest State University in Maryville and served as associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Maryville.
He served as minister of religious education at First Baptist Church, Grandview, followed by pastorates at First Baptist Church, Stanberry; First Baptist Church, Plattsburg; and First Baptist Church, Fayette.
For the last 10 years of his ministry before retirement he was director of missions for Linn-Livingston Baptist Association. In retirement he served as an interim and supply minister.
Quinn also had served on the Missouri Baptist Convention Executive Board Member of the Missouri Baptist Convention.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret; three sons, Rob L. Quinn and his wife, Karen, of Lathrop; Kevin M. Quinn and his wife, Peggy, of Columbia; and Brian M. Quinn and his wife, Kimberly, of Jefferson City; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a brother, Rod L. Quinn and his wife, Dawn, of Osage Beach. He was preceded in death by his parents.
