Douglas Green passes away in Shawnee

Douglas GreenSHAWNEE, Kan. — Dr. John Douglas Green, 85, of Shawnee, Kan., passed away at his home on May 23. He was the husband of Central Baptist Theological Seminary president Molly T. Marshall, who survives.

Funeral services will be held at Prairie Baptist Church, Prairie Village, Kan., on May 28.

Born May 19, 1925, in Merkel, Texas, he was the son of Donald and Ora Green. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II from 1943-1946, earning four Bronze Stars and the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon.

Following his service, he attended Baylor Medical College, graduating in 1952. For 46 years, he practiced medicine in Cushing, Okla., and Louisville, Ky. He was a member of Prairie Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Dr. Green is survived by three children, John Douglas Green Jr. of Farmington; Gary A. Green of Sand Springs, Okla.; and Janis Green Thomas of Bartlesville, Okla.; two sisters, Dialtha White of Houston, Texas, and Doris Freeman of Abilene, Texas; and two brothers, Edward Green of Argyle, Texas, and Morgan Green of Abilene.
